ecily brings her unique background as a former strategist, lobbyist, and government official to help companies connect the dots between market, consumer, and regulatory insights to create effective business strategies. Whether defining how to deliver a great user experience in the ever-evolving smart phone market, securing airwaves for the next generation of mobile devices, or negotiating free-trade agreements, she understands communications and the trends underlying them. Having worked in the corporate trenches herself, she knows how to help clients think strategically and turn those strategies into reality.
Before joining ?What If!, Cecily was Head of Strategy, Planning, and Insights for Nokia North America, where she applied an understanding of user experience and the fast-changing mobile market to Nokia’s product, sales, and marketing strategy. Prior to that, she led North American Corporate Affairs for Nokia Siemens Networks and was responsible for regulatory strategy as Nokia’s Director for Government and Industry Affairs in Washington, D.C. She began her career as a Presidential Management Fellow and International Trade Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce, monitoring telecom trade opportunities and policy developments in the Americas. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
A proud native of Philadelphia, Cecily lives in Brooklyn. When she is not traveling the globe for fun, she loves exploring New York's restaurants, farmer's markets, and food trucks. She hasn't yet found the platonic ideal of the Philly cheesesteak.
