Sanjay is a firm believer that breakthrough innovation lives at the intersection of creative inspiration and commercial rigor. He strikes a balance between lateral thinking and an experimental approach to tackle uncharted and often amorphous challenges. Since joining ?What If! in 2013, Sanjay has helped companies dream and launch products as diverse as next-generation credit cards, to protein-rich snacks, to a new global hospitality proposition for business travelers. In short, he’s tinkered with everything but the kitchen sink (though he did recently invent the faucet of the future).
Before ?What If!, Sanjay honed his business acumen as an investment banker at JPMorgan. There he financed toll roads and designed new models to invest in wind energy. He later applied his commercial talent to social innovation. As a management consultant in India, Sanjay pioneered and piloted first-of-their-kind business models to expand access to affordable housing and safe drinking water in low-income communities. Sanjay earned his MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
When he’s not inventing, Sanjay is planning costume parties and booking his next trip – though not always at the same time.

The ?! moment I’ve had the greatest Adventure:
It’s the daily adventures we go on to see challenges in new ways that makes every project a thrill. On a recent project exploring the power of travel to inspire, we tried out a virtual reality experience that whisked us to the Swiss alps and a Tahitian beach. This virtual adventure immersed us in a new paradigm of travel – and showed me a much more straightforward way to achieve my own personal goal of traveling to 150 countries.
