umita is an entrepreneur at heart. She joined the ?What If! team as Commercial Strategy Director and quickly built a reputation for seeing fresh opportunity in new tactics, new channels, and new markets for everyone from Pfizer to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. She is relentless in her pursuit of exactly how — and how much — new ideas will contribute to a client's business.
Sumita launched her own career more than 15 years ago and has been launching new ventures ever since. In her role leading the Strategy and Business Development organization at Disney Publishing Worldwide, she began Disney's mobile business and online book subscription service. Formerly a principal with the Media Practice of Booz & Company, Sumita developed Scholastic's tween social network and brought a host of new business and digital strategies to market for brands including MTV, McGraw Hill, and NBC Universal. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sumita sees opportunity around every corner, and has applied her talents in the B2B arena as well, identifying growth strategies for new information workflows and information services across financial, health care, and marketing information services categories. Her kids, a couple of bright young entrepreneurs in their own right, see an opportunity for her in their nightly bedtime ritual: they believe she should publish all the children's stories she writes and tells.
